Ocius Sentinel - Beyond Compliance

Ocius Sentinel, which is already approved by the major UK acquiring banks, is the UK's first card payment processing solution to offer true end-to-end dual encryption of cardholder data. It tackles the dangers associated with the capture, transmission and storage of card data by effectively removing the need to store the cards unique security information on a merchant's network.

Ocius Sentinel uses a combination of two of the strongest cryptography techniques available to encrypt the data at the point of card data capture. As sensitive cardholder data is effectively removed from the merchant's system, it can significantly reduce the cost and scope of achieving and maintaining PCI DSS compliance by up to 80%*.

Ocius Sentinel not only dual encrypts the cardholder data, but can also provide additional features to further guard against and prevent the capture of cardholder information in the event of a malicious attack.

In October 2009, Commidea hosted a series of seminars to officially launch Ocius Sentinel to retailers and EPoS providers in the UK. Guest speakers included a leading Qualified Security Assessor detailing the impact and risk of PCI DSS non-compliance, Global Refund discussing the benefits of Tax Free Shopping and Dynamic Currency Conversion and Eagle Eye Solutions demonstrating the unique advantage of Mobile Vouchers against traditional paper based vouchers and plastic gift cards. PCI Security Standards Council

At the end of 2009, the PCI Security Standards Council released a Q&A document in relation to whether encrypted data was deemed out of scope of PCI DSS compliance.
